GERNO DI LESMO – Sempat muncul rumor Valentino Rossi akan bergabung dengan Tim Formula One (F1) atau Relli. Namun, The Doctor menyatakan sudah melupakan tampil di roda empat dan setia bersama MotoGP lebih lama lagi. Benarkah?

 

Seperti diketahui, saat ini kontrak pemegang gelar tujuh kali MotoGP itu akan habis pada akhir 2010. Bahkan, muncul rumor Rossi berminat pindah ke F1 atau dunia Reli setelah kontrak berakhir.

Namun, pembalap Fiat Yamaha itu menegaskan kesetiaanya bersama kendaraan dua roda tersebut dalam jangka waktu yang lama. Lantas, apakah Rossi berniat pensiun dari MotoGP tahun depan?

The Doctor menegaskan kepada La Stampa, Selasa (27/10/2009): “Saya rasa itu tidak akan terjadi. Kenapa saya harus pensiun di usia 31 tahun? Saya yakin bisa balapan hingga 33 atau 34 tahun mendatang.”

Rossi memiliki alasan menunda pensiunnya. Mantan pembalap Honda itu ingin memecagkan rekor kemenangan terbanyak 122 di seluruh kelas, yang dipegang Giacomo Agostini.

“Saya sudah menyentuh angka 100 kali kemenangan. Jadi, mungkin saya bisa semakin mendekati angka 122 kemenangan milik Agostini,” tegas pembalap kelahiran Italia tersebut.

“Tapi, itu semua tergantung dengan keputusan saya pada 2011 mendatang, apakah saya mau memperpanjang kontrak satu atau dua tahun lagi. Jika saya memutuskan hari ini, maka saya ingin dua musim lagi di MotoGP,” tandas pembalap 30 tahun itu.  (hmr)
